そう思ったことはないだろうか。
夜。
妙にリアルな夢を、見たことはないだろうか。
これは、小さな子どもたちが
絵本の世界に迷い込んでしまうお話。
村の外れに住む少女グレースは、
3歳の頃にママに買ってもらった
絵本『くまのプーさん』がお気に入り。
そんなグレースが7つになった年の
クリスマスイブの夜、
いつもは静かな彼女が、
初めて母親エラと大喧嘩をする。
「いつまで子どもみたいなこと言ってるの？」
「散らかしたティッシュも、
そんな絵本もとっとと片付けなさい」
グレースはエラの再婚を受け入れられず、
義父とその娘との顔合わせ前夜、
自分の部屋に引き篭もってしまった。
宝物の絵本に悩みを打ち明けていると、
突如、クリストファー・ロビンが現れる。
彼の後をこっそり追っていくと、
いつの間にか見覚えのない森に辿り着き、
絵本の住人と愉快な天使の住む怪しげな世界、
『イマジナリーワールド』へと迷い込んでしまう。

そこはどんなワガママも叶う素敵な場所で、
一日中、歌と踊りが絶えない街。
欲しいものは、なんでも手に入る。
クッキーも、七面鳥の丸焼きも、ショートケーキも、マカロンも。
そこはとても、夢のような世界だった。
グレースは一日中、天使たちと笑って過ごしていたのだが、
とうとう彼女は知ってしまった、
この世界の知りたくなかった一面を。
しばらくしてこの森で、自分と同じくらいの歳の
男の子、オリバーと出会う。
彼もまた、この世界の恐ろしさを知ってしまった人間である。
そこに現れるは、
進路を指し示すドロシー（童話『オズの魔法使い』より）
優しく相談に乗る少年（童話『オオカミ少年』より）
グレースは誰を信じて、どんな道を進むのか。
この物語は、夢か現実か。

Have you ever wished for that?
Have you ever had a dream at night
that felt strangely real?
This is the story of little children
who wander into the world of a picture book.
Grace, a girl who lives on the edge of a village,
treasures the picture book Winnie-the-Pooh,
a gift from her mom when she was three.
On Christmas Eve, the year Grace turns seven,
the usually quiet girl has her very first
big fight with her mother, Ella.
“How long are you going to act like a little kid?”
“Clean up those tissues,
and put that picture book away!”
Unable to accept Ella’s remarriage,
on the night before she is to meet her stepfather and his daughter,
Grace shuts herself away in her room.
As she pours her heart out to her treasured book,
Christopher Robin suddenly appears.
She quietly follows him,
and before she knows it, she reaches an unfamiliar forest —
a mysterious place where storybook characters and cheerful angels live:
the Imaginary World.
“Welcome to this lively town!!”
It is a wonderful place where every wish comes true,
a town filled with song and dance all day long.
Anything you want is yours.
Cookies, a whole roast turkey, shortcake, macarons…
It was truly a dreamlike world.
Grace spends her days laughing with the angels —
until, at last, she discovers
the side of this world she never wanted to know.
Before long, in this forest,
she meets a boy about her age, Oliver.
He, too, is a human who has learned how frightening this world can be.
And then appear
Dorothy, who points the way (from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz)
and a boy who kindly listens (from The Boy Who Cried Wolf).
Whom will Grace trust, and which path will she take?
Is this story a dream — or reality?
